Munich’s famous Oktoberfest fairgrounds are back open after a bomb threat linked to a residential fire forced the festival to close for several hours on Wednesday.

The threat was connected to a 57-year-old German citizen from Starnberg — a town less than 20 miles from Munich , per local police. Investigators found the suspect after he died by suicide near a lake in northern Munich. He was found carrying a backpack with an explosive device that needed to be defused.
