Suspect in Kosta's theft appears in court, has prior convictions in multiple states

PENOBSCOT COUNTY -- A Howland woman was in court Friday on a felony theft charge following an incident at a Brewer restaurant.

Rebecca Holt is charged with theft by unauthorized taking, a class C felony punishable by up to 5 years in jail if convicted.

The charge is in connection with an August 19th incident at Kosta's restaurant, where Holt allegedly stole an employee's purse.

Prosecutors say the purse and its contents were valued at roughly $2700.

Holt was not asked to enter a plea since her charge is a felony, and the case will be turned over to the grand jury for possible indictment.

Bail was set at $500 cash with the condition not to return to Kosta's restaurant and no contact with a male co-defendant.

Holt will be back in court for review on October 10th.
