BRAINERD — With 334 rushing yards and two running backs over 100 yards, Class 5A’s ninth-ranked Monticello Magic proved to have the more physical team in a 52-29 win over the Brainerd Warriors Friday, Oct. 3, at Adamson Field.

Monticello’s Cale Holthaus led the way with 158 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 23 carries. He scored three touchdowns in the second half, including a 3-yard run with 4:44 left.

Garrett Bauer wasn’t far behind with 118 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries. He scored the longest touchdown, a 58-yard run, with 3:02 left in the second quarter to put the Magic ahead 23-15.

In total, Monticello outgained the Warriors 439-173.
