After being held scoreless last week, Opelousas Catholic football had one thing in mind in mind in Week 5’s matchup vs. St. Edmund ― scoring.

The Vikings did just that and then some, traveling to Eunice and serving the Blue Jay’s their first taste of defeat, beating them 52-30.

“We talked about it all week, we’re way too good for what we put up last week, and we knew this had to be a statement game,” OCS football coach Cullen Matherne said. “I told them 40 point minimum. I said this is not a defensive week, we got to go score and take control of this game.”

With this dominating offensive performance, the Vikings snagged their first Class 1A District 5 win of the season while St. Edmund’s bid for a perfect season has ended.
