Penticton Vees won their first game of the Western Hockey League season at home with a 3-2 victory over Portland Winterhawks, Friday at the South Okanagan Events Centre before 3,017 fans.
Jacob Kvasnicka, Louis Wehmann and Matteo Danis scored for the Vees, all in the first period. Nathan Free and Carsyn Dyck replied for the Winter Hawks.
Andrew Reyelts made 21 saves in posting the win in net.
Ondrej Štěbeták made 30 saves for Portland.
