Nathaniel Kimkowski accounted for five touchdowns as Vernon handed High Point its first loss of the season, 35-28, in Vernon.

Kimkowski came up big for Vernon (4-2) when he connected with Sam Silva for a 38-yard touchdown pass on 4th-and-4 to take a 35-21 lead with 3:20 remaining.

High Point (5-1) answered back with a 34-yard touchdown pass from Jerron Martress to Jerrry Empirio with 1:13 left, but it was too little too late as its onside-kick attempt went out of bounds.

Kimkowski finished with three rushing touchdowns, including a 53-yarder to take a 28-14 lead with 9:02 remaining.

Jerron Martress led High Point with four touchdowns, two passing and two rushing, including a 15-yard run to make it 28-21 with 6:31 left.
