Mail Ballots Early or Use Secure Drop Boxes and Vote Centers.

Urging Californians to cast ballots ahead of the Nov. 4 special election, Attorney General Rob Bonta on Thursday warned that a recent U.S. Postal Service change could delay postmarks for some Election Day mailings and jeopardize timely delivery.

Bonta said voters who drop ballots at a post office or collection box on Election Day and live more than 50 miles from one of California’s six regional USPS processing centers may not receive a postmark until the following day. To avoid problems, he encouraged mailing ballots several days early or using secure drop boxes and vote centers.
