ROCHESTER HILLS — The Stoney Creek-Rochester Adams game was tied, 20-20, but someone had to win Friday’s rivalry matchup.

In overtime, Stoney Creek got the ball first but failed to score after incompletions and a missed field-goal attempt.

“It is way easier to get the ball second in overtime because most of the decisions are made for you about field goals and going for one or two,” Adams head coach Tony Patritto said.

The game started just the way Adams wanted. An opening possession that began at their own 6-yard line nearly put Stoney Creek to sleep, as the Highlanders controlled the ball for more than eight minutes in the first quarter.

Watters scored a rushing touchdown that capped off Adams’ 94-yard drive, quieting the Stoney Creek homecoming crowd.
