Postal services have resumed in conflict-scarred Manipur’s Churachandpur district after more than two years, Postal Department officials said on Saturday (October 4, 2025).
Mail and other postal services were suspended in the district after ethnic clashes broke out between the Kuki-Zo and Meitei communities on May 3, 2023.
Officials said a mail van reached Churachandpur town, the district headquarters, at 11.30 a.m. on Friday. It unloaded letters, parcels, and other consignments before leaving for the State’s capital, Imphal, more than an hour later.
“The resumption of mail and other postal services is an encouraging step toward normalcy in Manipur,” a State government official said.
