ROBERT MACINTYRE hit just one shot in his pursuit of the Alfred DunhiIl Links Championship title, before play was suspended because of high winds.

The lingering effects of Storm Amy means St Andrews, Kingsbarns and Carnoustie were battered by 60mph gusts.

And with balls moving on the greens on some of the more exposed holes, the tournament organisers decided to halt play, less than twenty minutes after the third round got underway at 12.30pm.

The entire field of 164 players - and the same number of pro-am competitors - were out on the three courses, after a rare shotgun start to try to get the third round completed.

There were two groups starting from the same tee on some holes. Including the MacIntyre-Tyrrell Hatton pairing.
