MOUNT VERNON — When he was a freshman at Burlington-Edison High School, Skagit Valley College business student Malachi Larsen sold a few pairs of sneakers for a few hundred dollars after he noticed that some sneakers sold for more than their original price on the aftermarket.
As of September, Larsen has made more than $250,000 in sales though his business Pacific Kickz — an online rare sneaker shop.
“To someone who may not understand, it’s very similar to the collecting of sports memorabilia, such as baseball cards,” Larsen said about the sneaker business. “Some shoes are really hard to get and expensive, and others are more accessible.”
Pacific Kickz buys, sells and trades rare sneakers locally and online.
The main brands sold are Nike, Adidas and Asics.
