Saturday night's headline matchup carries all sorts of implications, not just in the ACC, but the College Football Playoff race as well, when the Miami Hurricanes and Florida State Seminoles square off from Doak Campbell Stadium.

Miami has looked the part of a top team in the country, sprinting out to a 4-0 record that saw them tested just once in the season-opener against Notre Dame. Each game since then has been a blowout.

Florida State looked rejuvenated but ran into a raucous crowd last week and fell to Virginia in an upset to send them to 3-1 on the year. The Seminoles have a massive chance to bounce back here.

One thing immediately standing out here is that Miami enters this game off a bye week, while Florida State has to play the Hurricanes after dropping an overtime game on the road last week. The rest for Miami could prove to be massive here.

That said, Florida State isn't the same team as 2024 that will wilt when things get tough. Even in the loss, they kept fighting and almost stole the game from Virginia if not for a controversial touchdown ruled incomplete.

The defenses will be the story in this game, though. Miami has allowed 22 points in its last three games, and aside from last week, Florida State allowed no more than 17 points, which was to Alabama. This game will be physical and feel like a throwback ACC rivalry game with Miami making the big play late.
