More than 400 street lights in the Scotlandville area got new, brighter and energy-efficient LED bulbs in September in ongoing efforts by the East Baton Rouge Parish government to upgrade lighting across the parish, officials said.

In May, new bulbs were installed in 50 streetlights on Plank Road, between Airline Highway and Florida Boulevard, as part of MovEBR, a city-parish initiative to improve the local transportation infrastructure.

Since then, street lighting upgrades have been made in Baton Rouge's Sherwood Forest, Goodwood Boulevard and Broadmoor areas, the city-parish said in a news release this week.

The Downtown Development District will be getting new lighting as well, and plans are in the works for lighting projects elsewhere in the parish.
