KOLAR: Two girls, both aged 13, who went missing on October 2 after going out of their house to relieve themselves, were found dead in a well, at Kuppanapalya village on Saturday.

The bodies of Chaitrabai and Dhanyabai were found in a well belonging to farmer Lakshminarayana of the same village. The police, who have launched an investigation after registering a case, have collected evidence, including a broken hundi (a donation box) and the girls’ footwear, which were found at different locations near the well. Police said the post-mortem report is awaited to determine the cause of death.

The families of the girls are suspecting foul play and have alleged that the girls were murdered and thrown into the well. The families have expressed shock and grief over the incident, and a large crow
