Green Country education leaders are reacting to the appointment of the new state superintendent, Lindel Fields.

The governor appointed Fields to serve the rest of Ryan Walters' term, which runs for a little more than one year.

Fields lives in Tulsa, has a new job in Oklahoma City, and roots in Bartlesville.

He worked at Tri-County Tech for 22 years, most recently as CEO and Superintendent.

The Bartlesville Public Schools superintendent said Fields’ appointment is “a breath of fresh air.” He's confident that in that short time, Fields can make an impact in many ways, including recruitment and retention of OSDE staff.

“I would consider him a friend and a colleague,” Superintendent Chuck McCauley said.
