PHOENIX — One person was killed in a crash in north Phoenix on Friday, according to authorities.
The Phoenix Police Department said the two-vehicle crash happened just after 11 a.m. near 24th Street and Greenway Parkway.
Fire crews rushed a woman in critical condition to the hospital, where she later died.
Police identified the woman as 86-year-old Jacqueline Louise Nelson.
Police said their preliminary investigation indicates Nelson was driving on Greenway Parkway and tried to make a left turn "when she failed to yield at the intersection and collided with a pickup truck."
The truck's driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
