ATHENS TWP, Pa. (WETM) — One man is dead following a shooting in Athens Township on Friday afternoon, according to a release from the Athens Township Police Department.

Around 3:39 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3, officers from the Athens Township Police Department were sent to Vista Drive for the report of gunshots fired, the release stated.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers found one man who had been shot, police said. The man was treated on scene and then taken to Robert Packer Hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries, according to the release.

The Athens Police believe this shooting was an isolated incident and that there is no threat to the public.
