Ruben Amorim has explained that Senne Lammens is making his Manchester United debut against Sunderland due to "rotation".

United suffered a 3-1 defeat to Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium last weekend, which forced club sources to clarify that Amorim still retains the backing of the board.

Amorim spoke honestly at his pre-Sunderland press conference on Friday afternoon, saying: "Nobody here is naïve. We understand that we need results to continue the project."

Sunderland have made an excellent start to the campaign, and today will be a stern test of Amorim's side.

United's head coach has made five changes against Sunderland and Lammens is set to make his debut.
