Oct. 2 Update: Dare County Planning Director Noah Gillam tells the Voice that he has reached out to the homeowners of the seven houses that collapsed in Buxton in the last several days concerning their role in the cleanup effort. He reports that he has spoken to five of them and several of those have indicated that they have hired a local contractor to assist with the cleanup efforts. Another homeowner, whose house is still standing but is in jeopardy, has hired a contractor in the event of a collapse.
