In a major embarrassment for the state government, Jyothi Prakash (50), Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Karnataka energy minister K J George, was caught red-handed by Lokayukta police on Saturday evening while accepting a bribe.
The Lokayukta officials on Saturday trapped and arrested Jyothi Prakash,Executive engineer KPTCL and OSD to Energy minister,along with his driver Naveen M.(out source),red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.50,000 for an official favour.
According to the officials,Jyothi Prakash had demanded Rs.1 lakh to issue NOC for sanctioning electricity supply connection to Ananthraju.
Unable to pay the amount,Ananathraju approached Lokayukta and filed a complaint.Based on which a trap was laid and the duo was arrested under Prevention of Corruption Act.
