LINCOLN, Neb. – Michigan State is attempting to avoid back-to-back losses and will be without a pair of secondary starters.

Safety Nikai Martinez and nickelback Ade Willie are both out for the Spartans (3-1, 0-1) when they play at Nebraska (3-1, 0-1) on Saturday (4 p.m. ET, FS1).

Martinez, who missed the first two games while recovering from shoulder surgery, was injured in the second quarter of a 45-31 loss at USC on Sept. 20 in an accidental collision with defensive lineman Quindarius Dunnigan and neither returned to play. Dunnigan isn’t listed on the pregame availability report and neither is starting linebacker Wayne Matthews, who suffered a scary injury against the Trojans and was carted off and taken by ambulance to the hospital.
