Rohit Sharma’s time as India’s ODI captain, and pretty much as captain in any format, came to an end Saturday with Shubman Gill being announced as the new skipper of the team in the format. Under Rohit, India won the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2025 Champions Trophy. They were also hardly challenged by any side in the 2023 World Cup until they were surprisingly beaten comprehensively by Australia in the final, a result that Rohit admitted took a long time for him to process.
