The Supreme Court will hear on October 6, a plea by Gitanjali Angmo , wife of activist Sonam Wangchuk, challenging his detention in connection with the violent protests in Ladakh on September 24, which led to four deaths in police firing.

As per the top court’s website, the plea has been listed before a bench of Justices Aravind Kumar and N V Anjaria.

Angmo filed her petition on October 2.

In a post on X, Angmo on October 3, she wrote: “I have sought relief from the Supreme Court of India through a Habeas Corpus petition against Wangchuk’s detention. It is one week today. Still I have no information about Sonam Wangchuk’s health, the condition he is in nor the grounds of detention.”

The court is currently on Dussehra vacation and will reopen on October 6.
