Playing a true freshman might have been a risky move, but it was exactly the gamble Pitt needed to take after dropping two straight games. There were rumblings all week coach Pat Narduzzi might replace Eli Holstein with Mason Heintschel for the game against Boston College.
Those were confirmed early Saturday morning before many even got to Acrisure Stadium.
Turns out playing Heintschel was the right move for the Panthers. From the jump, he was connecting with the rest of the offense and he never let up. Pair that with some key defensive plays, and Pitt cruised to a 48-7 win over the Eagles.
