A Wareham man has been charged in connection with a chemical explosion at his home on Friday.
Mark Halpin, 50, was charged with possessing explosive devices and materials used to create them, the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services said in a statement.
Halpin was taken into custody by Massachusetts State Police and held on a $15,000 bail pending his arraignment next week. Additional charges may be sought.
Officials, including the Wareham Fire Department, bomb technicians and investigators, responded to Aunt Maryville Lane early Friday afternoon following a report of an explosion in a dwelling.
Halpin was found at the home and was driven to a hospital for medical care, officials said.
He briefly left the hospital and was returned for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Af
