Steve Bruce has been sacked as Blackpool head coach following their 2-0 home defeat against AFC Wimbledon.

The Seasiders were beaten for the seventh time in their League One campaign and now sit 23rd in the third tier.

The former Manchester United defender joined in September 2024 as their replacement for Neil Critchley.

However, Bruce lasted just over a year in charge having been dismissed on Saturday evening.

"Blackpool Football Club can announce the departure of Head Coach Steve Bruce, Assistant Head Coach Steve Agnew and First-Team Coach Stephen Clemence," a 58-word club statement read .

"The Club would like to thank them for their efforts, and wishes them the very best for the future.
