One of college football's most storied and compelling rivalries will add a new chapter this weekend.
No. 3 Miami and No. 19 Florida State, arguably the two best teams in the ACC this season, will square off on Saturday, Oct. 4 at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida, with the winner of the matchup taking a decisive step closer to a College Football Playoff appearance.

The Hurricanes enter the matchup as one of the best teams in the sport, with a 4-0 record that includes a pair of wins against teams, Notre Dame and South Florida, that were in the top 25 of the US LBM Coaches Poll at the time of their matchup. Offensively, coach Mario Cristobal's team has been carried by quarterback Carson Beck, a Georgia transfer in his first season with the program, and wide receiver Malachi Toney, one of the most impressive freshmen in the country. True to their coach's background as an offensive line coach, they're strong in the trenches, as well, with defensive lineman Rueben Bain Jr. widely projected as a top-10 pick in next year's NFL draft.
They'll look to keep their perfect season going against a Seminoles squad that also had an unblemished record prior to a Week 5 loss at Virginia in double overtime. Florida State has bounced back effectively thus far from a disastrous 2-10 season in 2024, aided by a reshaped roster and a reshuffled coaching staff. Under the guidance of coordinator Gus Malzahn, the Seminoles' offense has excelled behind quarterback Tommy Castellanos and wide receiver Duce Robinson, who transferred into the program last offseason from Boston College and USC, respectively.
Miami won last season's meeting between the programs, a 36-14 victory at Hard Rock Stadium, but Florida State had won 10 of the previous 14 games.

Carson Beck TD pass puts Miami on top

The Seminoles' first possession of the day ends with some points. Florida State goes 70 yards across 11 plays, with Jake Weinberg connecting on a 23-yard field goal to get his team an early lead over rival Miami. Quarterback Tommy Castellanos was the catalyst of the scoring march, throwing for 28 yards and rushing for another 16.

Miami vs Florida State predictions
Liam Rooney, Tallahassee Democrat: Miami 31, FSU 28:
"The Seminoles enter the game highly motivated after the loss to Virginia, and this week will be a much better version of the FSU team in comparison to the double overtime loss. This one will be close, almost a coin flip on who wins, and it comes down to which team wins in the trenches, and the advantage, currently, leans to Miami."
Dan Rorabaugh, Palm Beach Post: Miami 27, FSU 17
