OVI crash: Porter Road

Officers at 8:53 p.m. on Sept. 16 responded to multiple calls about a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Porter Road and Mill Road.

Officers arrived to find that a Ford car and a Nissan SUV had collided in the intersection. Both drivers were out of their vehicles. Both drivers claimed they had the green light to go through the intersection. The SUV was northbound on Porter Road and the car was attempting to turn eastbound onto Mill Road.

An officer in his police report noted that he detected the smell of an alcoholic beverage on the breath of the car’s driver, who had been turning left. The officer noted in his report that it appeared the man was attempting to cover up his breath by smoking cigarettes. The man spoke with a slow, s
