Logan Nunley scored a big insurance goal to lead 12th-seeded High Point to a 3-2 victory over 17th-seeded Belvidere in the first round of the Hunterdon / Warren / Sussex Tournament in Sussex.
Cole Tjalma gave Belvidere a 1-0 lead with an assist from Chris Denker, but Mucio Torres tied the match 1-1 for High Point by halftime.
Andrew Schuman scored in the second half, which gave High Point a 2-1 lead. Nunley added his insurance goal before Denker scored for Belvidere to cut the lead to 3-2.
High Point (4-7) will travel to face fifth-seeded North Hunterdon in the second round on Tuesday, while Belvidere (3-7) will host College Achieve Central on Monday.
