Say goodbye to white ceilings and soft grey walls: colour drenching is set to make a big impact this spring.

According to interior designer Brooke Shakibaee, founder and principal of White Studio & Co, the practise employs the same hue across all surfaces in a room, including on the walls, ceilings, window frames, doors and sometimes even soft furnishings and light switches.

She said the decorating technique is seen all over Europe and is now becoming sought-after in Perth’s western suburbs.

While there are many different drenching techniques, she explained all work to radically transform spaces, whether bold colours are used to achieve a rich, cocooning feel or light colours are chosen to maximise the sense of space in a small room.
