TREASURE ISLAND, Fla. (WFLA) — October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and in honor of that, the Treasure Island Police Department announced it is going pink.

For the past several years, TIPD officers have traded in their traditional badges for pink ones, and this year is no different.

According to a post on social media, the department said the pink badges are a symbol of hope, strength and solidarity.

Donning the pink badges on their uniforms symbolizes TIPD's dedication to raising awareness and supporting those currently fighting, survivors, and families affected by breast cancer or other types of cancer.
