LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Michigan State watched a second half lead slip away in a 38-27 loss to the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday.
Nebraska raced out to a 14-0 lead after running back Emmett Johnson scored a two-yard touchdown on the opening drive and shortly thereafter the Cornhuskers blocked a punt and returned it for a touchdown.
For the rest of the first half, however, MSU settled into the game. When an injury caused quarterback Aidan Chiles to miss a few plays, backup quarterback Alessio Milivojevic came in and tossed his first career touchdown pass to tight end Jack Velling to get the Spartans on the board in the second quarter.
The Spartans trailed 14-7 at the half but a pair of rushing touchdowns by Chiles in the third quarter gave them their first lead, 21-14.
