Brookline.News reports on the incident outside Temple Beth Zion, 1566 Beacon St., as Yom Kippur was starting Wednesday evening. One pellet shattered a car window, and a large number of police officers responded, but a police report stated "it did not appear he was targeting the temple."
Brookline District Court records show that Carlos Gouvea, 47, was charged with felony vandalism and three misdemeanor charges: Firing a BB gun on a public way, disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace.
Judge Debra Shopteese released him on personal recognizance.
He is scheduled to return to court for a pre-trial conference on Nov. 6.
