MIFFLINBURG — A woman died Saturday morning when fire swept through her double-wide trailer in a rural part of Union County.
The structure, which had a cellar, was fully involved with flames shooting out all but one window when the first units arrived in the 700 block of Black Run Road about a mile from Mazeppa, Mifflinburg Hose Co. Chief Steve Walter said.
Attempts to reach Daisy Russell, 67, in her bedroom through that one window were unsuccessful, he said. The body was removed after the fire was knocked down, he said.
The cause of the fire that was reported by a neighbor at 7:06 a.m. is undetermined at this time, according to a state police fire marshal who released the identity of the victim.
