YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) - Youngstown State football put up a fight but fell 35-30 against #2 South Dakota State at Stambaugh Stadium on Saturday night.

The Penguins jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the 2nd quarter and held a 17-7 advantage at halftime. South Dakota State responded with three third quarter touchdowns to take back a 28-17 lead.

After cutting it back down to four in the fourth quarter, the Jackrabbits sealed it with a 24-yard Julius Loughridge touchdown run. Loughride rushed for 176 yards and four touchdowns.

For YSU, Brungard threw for 275 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for 130 yards and another score. Wideout Max Tomczak hauled in eight catches for 92 yards and three TDs.
