SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - A St. Joseph County police officer is recovering from his injuries and another person is in police custody after a crash on Saturday night.
According to St. Joseph County police, one of their officers was driving south on Ironwood Road when another driver who was turning left from Ironwood onto Dunn Road pulled into the officer’s path and caused the crash.
The officer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Police say the driver of the other vehicle left the scene but was found a short time later in a nearby home. That person was taken into custody before being taken to the hospital.
Investigators believe alcohol may have played a role in the crash.
