SEATTLE -- An 11th inning go-ahead RBI single by Zach McKinstry was the difference, as the Detroit Tigers took Game 1 of their ALDS against the Seattle Mariners, 3-2 Saturday night.

The Tigers now lead the best-of-five series 1-0.

Detroit found itself down 1-0 in the fifth until a 2-run homer by Kerry Carpenter put them in front.

Seattle tied the game in the next frame off Detroit reliever Rafael Montero.

The game remained tied into the top of the 11th until McKinstry’s RBI single, which put Detroit in front 3-2.

Keider Montero, the 7th Detroit reliever to pitch on the night, closed out the game for his first career save and

Game 2 of the ALDS between the Mariners and Tigers is Sunday at 8:00 PM ET.

Tarik Skubal is scheduled to start for Detroit.
