It was an abysmal afternoon for the University of Virginia’s College at Wise as the Anderson Trojans hung half a hundred on the Highland Cavaliers in a smackdown in South Carolina.

UVa-Wise was overpowered, outmuscled, outgunned and basically outeverythinged in getting completely annihilated in a 50-7 South Atlantic Conference football loss.

The Highland Cavaliers (1-5, 1-4) were outgained 522-139 in terms of total offense and converted on only two of their 14 attempts on third down.

They did avoid a shutout as Abingdon High School graduate Peyton McClanahan caught a 60-yard touchdown pass from Jake Corkren with 3:39 left in the third quarter.

It was the third touchdown of the season scored by McClanahan.

Corken was just 12-of-30 for 145 yards with an intercept
