Have you ever been told to just "have hope?" How annoying is that little statement. I have struggled to find hope at times, especially as I observe the pain and suffering in the world. To add to my struggles, I kept asking myself how I could feel as I do when I am a Christian and a minister, part of a faith that is rooted in hope. Well, it occurred to me that I had gone back to thinking about hope in a way that was not healthy, I was thinking of hope as something that was surface level, it was just something you do, it was kind of what I took away from conversations about hope as a kid. But I was reminded when talking to friends and colleagues, in reading scripture and other works that hope is a spiritual practice, one that is not limited to one faith group.
The practice of hope is first
