Republican Lt. Gov Winsome Earle-Sears stepped up to the microphone at an Arlington school board meeting to deliver a pointed message: If elected as Virginia’s governor, she would fight against policies extending protections for transgender students and “not stand by while political correctness tramples over science, fairness and safety.”
“There are two sexes, boys and girls,” Earle-Sears said at the August meeting. “For generations, we’ve understood this, that they deserve their own sports teams, their own locker rooms, their own bathrooms. That’s not discrimination. It is common sense.”
