Parts of Sydney inner-west are in lockdown after shots were fired, prompting a major police operation.

The incident at Croydon Park on Sunday night forced a number of road closures.

There were unconfirmed media reports that at least one person had been injured.

"A police operation is currently underway at Croydon Park after shots were fired," police said in a statement.

"Specialist resources are attending, and the public is urged to stay inside, and motorists are advise
