Asterio “Terry” Canda, 85, of Pahoa, died Aug. 8 at Straub Benioff Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Kealakekua, he was a retired salesperson for Kamaaina Motors, retired U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran and 4th-degree black belt Taekwondo instructor with Canda Taekwondo. Visitation 9-11 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 11) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Committal services 11:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13, at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 Pavilion. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Ruth Canda of Pahoa; sons, Terry Canda of Pahoa and Jurgen (Sue) Canda of Keaau; daughter, Stephanie (Joshua) Lake; brother, Ronald (Valerie) Rillon of Reno, Nev.; sister, Sandra Silvis of North Dakota; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
