Retiring Fremantle star Nat Fyfe says he will never forget the feeling of playing for a premiership contender at the same time as being a Brownlow medallist, saying it provided him with a rare moment of feeling like he’d made it.

Fyfe’s brilliant AFL career ended this season after 248 games, three All-Australians, three Doig Medals, two Brownlow Medals, two AFLPA MVP Awards and seven years as captain.

At the peak of his powers, Fyfe was the best player in the competition and led a Fremantle team that won 49 of a possible 66 home and away games, played in the 2013 grand final and claimed the 2015 minor premiership.

Reflecting on his career at Fremantle’s Doig Medal awards on Saturday night, Fyfe said he’d never forget what it was like to play during that time.
