To those who proudly serve in uniform: When do I stop thanking you for your service?
Is it when you march into our city streets to deprive our fellow citizens of their First Amendment rights to protest?
Is it when you deploy to support masked immigration agents arbitrarily detaining citizens who speak with an accent or have the “wrong” complexion?
Is it when you begin to think of civilians as the “enemy from within” instead of “we the people” striving toward a more prefect union?
As a Vietnam veteran, I caution everyone in uniform from the Joint Chiefs to lowly PFCs that we don’t want to go back to the Vietnam days, when being in the military wasn't widely viewed as a noble career choice — when no one said, “Thank you for your service.”
