It’s not easy keeping control of a bus full of middle school kids.

Ben Bernhart has been there. The new director of transportation for the Easton Area School District said he got his start driving a bus in 2014.

So when his drivers need advice or support, he brings his experience with him.

“I will actually go out there and ride the buses,” said Bernhart in an interview Wednesday.

He was hired to run the transportation department in June 2024. He had his title changed from manager of transportation to director of transportation at the school board meeting Tuesday, Sept. 30. His annual salary remains the same: $110,994
