A rescue mission during the height of Storm Amy saw a hillwalker get a lucky escape as they were found by a mountain rescue team before being airlifted to hospital with hypothermia. ‌

Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team based in Garve were called out during the early hours of October 4 to a walker in trouble on the Cape Wrath trail. ‌

The hero volunteer teams assembled at around 3.30am in "very challenging conditions" as Storm Amy ravaged the country with high speed winds and downpours to find the casualty. ‌

Nearby bothies were checked but nobody was discovered then with new information the casualty was found sheltering behind a bollard before being airlifted to Stornaway Hospital.
