SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - We had a few thunderstorms Saturday, with 0.39” at SRQ and Myakka City, but only 0.02” reported at Nokomis.

Sunday’s afternoon and evening thunderstorms are likely to be widespread, with dangerous lightning and some heavy downpours possible. Thunderstorm chances stay with us for the workweek, but storms will be widely scattered again during the week.

At the beaches, scattered afternoon thunderstorms pop up again Sunday. The first storms could develop mid-afternoon, becoming more widespread for the late afternoon and evening. Winds Sunday hold from the East at 10-15 mph. Rip current risk is low, but always check the flags at lifeguard stations. Rain chances continue for the work week.
