ORANGE COUNTY, Ind. —

A pilot was found alive after crashing their plane late Saturday night.

Indiana State Police said it was about 10 p.m. when they were notified of a downed plane near the Orange County and Lawrence County line.

The crash reportedly involved a Lancair fixed-wing, single-engine aircraft.

For six hours, multiple first responders searched a heavily wooded area where the plane went down.

At 4 a.m., they located both the plane and the pilot in a heavily wooded area near Old Vincennes Road.

The pilot was found inside the plane with non-life-threatening injuries, but due to the dense terrain, the pilot had to be carried out by stretcher.

Police said the Federal Aviation Administration had been notified and will be taking over the investigation.
