The Toronto Blue Jays can take a commanding American League Division Series lead over the New York Yankees in Game 2 on Sunday after a rout in the series opener.

Toronto won 10-1 at the Rogers Centre, getting a home run from Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and two from catcher Alejadro Kirk. It was a 2-1 game heading into the seventh inning, but the Blue Jays scored four in the seventh and four more in the eighth to turn the game into a laugher.

"There's a different feel with this team," Blue Jays manager John Schneider told reporters after Game 1. "Again, it's one game. There's a lot of series ahead of us, but it's nice."

Lefty Max Fried (19-5, 2.96 ERA) starts Game 2 for the Yankees while Trey Yesavage takes the mound for the Blue Jays having made only three starts in his career.
