OMAHA, Neb. —

The Omaha WALK to End Hydrocephalus is back in the metro for its sixth year. It is one of 40 walks across the country.

Sisters Karin Donner and Hailee Schmit, the lead organizers of Omaha's annual walk, brought the walk to Omaha in 2020 through the Hydrocephalus Association. Schmit has hydrocephalus, and the two have made it their mission to spread awareness and advocacy.

The walk raises critical funds for the Hydrocephalus Association's research, support and advocacy efforts through Congress. It's also a way for families to get connected and create community.

This year's walk is on Sunday, Oct. 19, at Chalco Hills Recreation Area at 8 a.m.
